WR/S Lynell Payne Profile

6-3, 205 pound wide receiver/safety prospect Lynell Payne traveled to Clemson over the weekend for an official visit.

"I enjoyed it," he said. "It was a lot of fun. I can't lie. I saw a lot of things I hadn't seen before. They were tailgating everywhere. The excitement of running down the hill."

How did the two-way standout rate the visit on a scale of one to 10?

"I would give it a 9.5 or 10," replied Payne.

Mike Hamlin was the player host during the visit.

"We got along great. We were together for most of the trip. He told me how it is down there," said Payne.

What was the highlight of the visit?

"Wow, there was so much stuff. I went to coach Bowden's house on Sunday. Another highlight was all of the orange. Everybody had on orange. I have never seen so much orange. My high school colors are also orange," replied Payne.

The crowd left a big impression on the New Jersey standout.

"The game was crazy. Even though they lost the game it was a great atmosphere," said Payne.

A decision could come at any time from the Cherokee High (N.J.) standout.

"I don't have a clue when I will be ready. It is down to Clemson and Cincinnati. I have no idea when I will make my mind up. I have already been to Cincinnati. I am not sure that I will take any more visits," said Payne.

His future position could have a big impact on his decision.

"Clemson wants me at safety. Cincinnati wants me at receiver. I kind of know which position I want to play, but I need to think about it," said Payne.
