Napier checked in with 4-star offensive lineman R.J. Mattes before his big game last Friday.

"Yeah I talked to coach Napier last Friday night," he said. "He wished me luck before my game with West Charlotte. He is great to talk to. We talk about everything, not just football," said Mattes.

The prize recruit says Jay Robinson (N.C.) has struggled the past few weeks.

"We hit a rocky point the past few weeks," said Mattes. "We are doing pretty good I guess. We struggled against West Charlotte. We are 3-4 now."

Mattes will see two of his favorites play on Saturday.

"I didn't make it to any games last weekend. I am going to the North Carolina game against South Carolina this weekend," said Mattes.

"Right now I still only have the two official visits scheduled. I am going to visit North Carolina on December 1. I am going to South Carolina on December 8. I have talked to the coaches at Virginia, Clemson and State, but don't have any dates yet."

Clemson will get another chance to play in front of Mattes later this year.

"I am sure I will end up hitting another game here or there. I am definitely going to the State game against Carolina. I am also going to go see Clemson at South Carolina. I will also try to hit another Virginia game," said Mattes.

North Carolina's top offensive lineman watched the Tigers game Saturday night.

"It was a tough loss. I am sure they will bounce back. They won't found under that," said Mattes.

Mattes closed by telling he would likely wait until January to make a decision in the recruiting process. Top Stories
