Rees Dominating Texas Football

Trevor Rees and the Pearland Oilers continue to dominate the competition in Class 5A Texas. Rees graded out at 96% this past week in helping pave the way for 326 yards on the ground in a 51-13 destruction of Pasadena Rayburn.

With the win, Pearland maintained their share of the District 23-5A lead with Pasadena and Galena Park North Shore.

Rees, who was named the lineman of the week for his outstanding peformance, continues to show aggressive, yet consistent play.

"At one point he blocked a linebacker and a safety with one hit," said a source close to the Pearland program. Pearland head coach Tony Heath and offensive line coach Doug Hagar both agreed.

"I don't know how many pancakes Trevor Rees had, but a lot of times he was taking the taking man up into the secondary. He had an amazing night," said Heath.

"We're getting better," Hagar said. "We have the big three with Trevor, Robbie Heos and Dennis Ayotte. They are solid, but we've had to use some young players."

"Brian Wagner is coming back from his injury and we have some injuries at the guard positions. We've been rotating people in there and that is good for down the line. Everyone we've used there has done a good job."

Rees continues to look at both Clemson and Northwestern, as well as Kansas and Pittsburgh. He has already set his official visits to Tiger Town for the weekend of January 10th, and to Northwestern the weekend of December 6th.

Interestingly enough, with Rees playing so well of late, several other schools are now starting to make their presence felt. "Colorado State head coach Sonny Lubick called the house Sunday to express his interest in Trevor," said Trevor's mother, Keli Wall.

"North Carolina, Indiana and Wisconsin seem to be entering the picture as well, all having requested game tape recently," added Wall.

"Coach Watts and Coach West keep in touch with Trevor on a regular basis, both with phone calls and hand written notes. Northwestern and Clemson both stress their need for a high quality center and that they feel Trevor is that center."
