The men's basketball team announced today that it will hold its annual Orange & White game Saturday at 10:00 AM in Littlejohn Coliseum. Admission to the event is free of charge. Following the game, players and coaches will be available to sign autographs on the concourse level of the coliseum.
Season tickets for the Tigers' 16-game home schedule are available at the Clemson athletic ticket office. To order, call 1-800-CLEMSON or online at www.clemsontigers.com.
The Tigers return four starters and 11 lettermen from a team that tied a school record last season by winning 25 games. Clemson advanced to the championship game of the NIT and was the nation's last remaining undefeated team at 17-0 in January.
Cliff Hammonds, James Mays, and Sam Perry return for their senior seasons to lead the Tigers this season. Hammonds, a veteran of 100 games and 99 starts, has averaged double figures in scoring each of his three seasons at Clemson. Mays is the school's single-season record-holder among frontcourt players for assists and steals. Perry is a veteran of 100 games as well, with 62 starts.
Trevor Booker and K.C. Rivers, both double figure scorers last season, return as well for Oliver Purnell's fifth team at Clemson. Rivers led the team in scoring last season at 14 points per game, while Booker ranked second in the ACC in offensive rebounds per game and third in blocked shots per game as a freshman.
Other returning lettermen on this year's squad are Matt Morris, Karolis Petrukonis, David Potter, Julius Powell, Raymond Sykes, and Jesse Yanutola. Joining the team this season are freshmen Jonah Baize (Evansville, IN), Jerai Grant (Bowie, MD), Terrence Oglesby (Cleveland, TN), and Demontez Stitt (Matthews, NC).
Clemson will compete with Augusta State in a public exhibition game on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:30 PM. The Tigers' first game of the 2007-08 regular season will be against Furman at home on November 12.
