Koenning Positioning Clemson with Fla DB

The Clemson Tigers will get a visit from a two-way standout from the Sunshine state later this fall. Are the Tigers the team to beat? CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

ATH Jordon Byas Profile

6-1, 175 pound safety prospect Jordon Byas will visit Death Valley in November to see what the Clemson Tigers have to offer.

"I plan to go up to Clemson for the Boston College game," Byas told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "I'm going to be looking hard at the football program and what they have to offer. I also want to learn more about the academic stuff at Clemson."

When asked about his current leaders in the recruiting process, Byas responded, "I am not sure yet. Right now I can tell you I really like Clemson. Florida might offer. I am kind of waiting on that too." If the Gators were to offer would they pull ahead of the Tigers?

"No, they would jump even with Clemson," replied Byas.

Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning is recruiting Byas for the Tigers.

"I talk with coach Vic a lot," he said. "We just talk about regular stuff. He tells me Clemson is a good place for me. He talks about how they have a good secondary and good defense.

"I have seen them on television. They play great defense. They play the same kind of defense we do."

Byas is off to a strong start this year despite the fact his team has only two of its first seven games.

"It is going pretty good for me, but not so good for my team," he said. "We are like 2-5. I am doing well. I am playing both ways. At running back I have over 600 yards and five touchdowns. On defense I have over 30 tackles, one interception for touchdown and one fumble recovery."

Don't expect an early commitment any time soon from the Sunshine state standout. "I am probably going to wait as long as I can. I am not in any rush," Byas added.
