Coaches Comment on the Loss

"We knew coming in that this was a defense that was going to allow you to move the ball up and down the field, but we knew it would be tough in the redzone," said Brad Scott. "We had some opportunities today we just didn't convert, and that really hurt us."

Offensive Coordinator Brad Scott
On the Virginia Defense
"We knew coming in that this was a defense that was going to allow you to move the ball up and down the field, but we knew it would be tough in the redzone. We went for it on fourth down and we didn't get that, we had some positive things happen on the edges, but in the second half, it really hurt us when we turned the football over."

On the Play of Willie Simmons
"We made some positive plays with Willie, and we had a few tipped balls out there and that probably hurt us more than anything. I'm not sure Willie could see over the line when they were just kind dropping back and not bringing the rush."

On the Possibility of Whitehurst Starting
"I've learned that you don't make statements about a situation like that right after a ball game. You look at the entire football game and look at the tape. We'll go back and look on film, but we'll look at his playing time increasing probably."

Defensive Coordinator John Lovett
On the Play of QB Matt Schaub
"There quarterback with Matt Schaub, they didn't have any turnovers. It was hard to rattle him. Thats one thing are doing very well on offense. They see an opporutnity and keep the drive going no matter what happens."

Overall Play of the Defense
"As a defense we needed to make a play down there and we didn't do it. I need to go back and look at the film before we can break it all down, but we just didn't make the plays when we needed to."

On Justin Miller's Play
"I thought Justin Miller was going to make a play on McMullen, but for some reason he sort of stumbled or something. We'll have to go back and see what happened, but I thought he would have made a play there."
