Tigers After Top Fla Standout

The Clemson coaching staff has already secured verbal commitments from two 4-star players from the Jacksonville area. The staff is also after a pair of teammates from St. Augustine. Where do the Tigers stand with this two-way standout?

WR/DB Carlton Lewis Profile

6-foot-2, 190 pound two-way standout Carlton Lewis is having an outstanding senior season.

"I am playing both ways this year," he told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "At receiver I have caught 23 passes for 380 yards and five touchdowns. At defensive back I have 35 tackles and one interception.

"Our game went good on Friday. We won 14-0. I didn't play that much. We played some of the 9th graders and second team guys a good bit."

When asked about his current favorites in the recruiting process, Lewis said, "My favorites would be Georgia Tech, Clemson, Wake Forest, South Carolina and South Florida."

The Tigers are one of several teams to offer Lewis in the past few months.

"Clemson offered me a couple of weeks ago. Florida International just offered also," said Lewis.

The visit plans are not clear at this time for the Sunshine state standout.

"I am not sure when I will take my official visits. I will most likely wait until after the season. I may go to the Georgia game against Georgia Tech. I am not sure if I will get up to Clemson for a game or not," said Lewis.

What will the talented athlete look for when selecting his college destination?

"I want to find a place where I am comfortable. I want to just find a place that I know is the right place for me," responded Lewis. Clemson assistant coach Dabo Swinney is recruiting Carlton and his talented teammate Rashard Hall for the Tigers.

"He is a respectful guy. When you are around coach Swinney you feel like you belong there. He gives you a good feeling for Clemson," said Lewis.

Does Carlton plan to play with Rashard at the next level?

"I don't know what he is thinking. He hasn't really expressed where he wants to go. It could end up that way," said Lewis.

A commitment will come when the feeling is right for Lewis.

"I don't really have a timeframe. I will just do it when I am ready," said Lewis.
