RB/WR Larry Raper Profile

Larry Raper helped lead Shelby High to a 40-14 victory in the playoffs last Friday.

"We played great," Raper told CUTigers.com. "We thought it was going to be closer. We just came out as a strong team. I had five rushes for 105 yards. I had two touchdowns."

Coaches from another ACC school visited Shelby High earlier this week.

"The coaches from North Carolina came by this week. I didn't get to talk with them. They talked with my coach," said Raper. "But I am firm with Clemson."

The top junior watched the Tigers beat the Gamecocks Saturday night in Williams-Brice Stadium.

"I watched bits and pieces. It was a good game," said Raper.

The competition gets tougher for Shelby as they advance in the playoffs.

"We play Mount Pleasant this week. The game will be a little tougher, but we will pull it out," said the speedster.

Raper, who should be rated as a four-star prospect, is one of two verbal commitments for Clemson in the class of 2009. The Tigers also have secured a verbal commitment from offensive lineman J.K. Jay (Christ Church).
