Clemson last played in Atlanta after the 2003 season in what was then called the Peach Bowl. The Tigers defeated No. 6 Tennessee, 27-14.
The Chic-Fil-Bowl matches the ACC's No. 2 selection with a team from the SEC.
Auburn finished the regular season at 8-4.
The game is played on New Year's Eve at 7:30 p.m. and will be nationally televised by ESPN.
