DT Brandon Thompson Profile
One of the top defensive players on the board for the Clemson Tigers for the 2008 recruiting class, Brandon Thompson, concluded his official visit to Clemson earlier today.
And while the trip went as well as to be expected, he did not make a verbal commitment to the Tigers.
"It was a great trip," Thompson said. "It was real impressive. My mom liked it a lot and I think she was real impressed with Vickery Hall.
"I didn't commit or anything but everything is still pretty much the same for me. We had a great time hanging out Kourtnei Brown. We got along real good."
Thompson, who is extremely explosive off of the ball, currently boasts scholarship offers from LSU, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Georgia and Alabama, among others.
He has already made official visits to LSU, Ohio State and Georgia Tech.
Clemson defensive line coach Chris Rumph also made a good impression on Thompson.
"He talked with my mom alot and that was good," Thompson said. "I really liked all the people there."
So what comes next for the talented defensive tackle?
"I could take another visit but I'm going to go home and talk about some things," he said Thompson. "I'm waiting for right now. We'll see. I could visit Florida State but I'm not sure."
Scout.com currently lists Thompson as four-star prospect and the No. 4 defensive tackle in the nation. There is a chance he could move to five-star status before National Signing Day.
Thompson has as high a ceiling as any defensive tackle in the country with his incredible burst off the ball, immediate penetration into the backfield, and excellent awareness for the ball.
