The Search with Stephon Gilmore - Week 1

South Pointe (SC) two-way standout Stephon Gilmore is doing a weekly diary on to document his recruiting process from start to finish. In this first entry he talks about his recent MVP basketball performance, a recent visit to Clemson and much more!

I am about to go to Charleston to play in a basketball tournament. It is a big tournament with teams from all over. We play our first game tonight.

I just came back to basketball three games ago. We won the Northwestern tournament. I won MVP. I had 23 points in the championship game.

I like playing basketball, but I will play football in college.

I am getting letters from everybody. Most of the top division 1 schools are sending me letters. Right now they are just talking about the holidays.

Coach Lilly from Florida State came by to see me a couple of weeks ago. He told me to call him and said they would offer.

I went down to Clemson a week ago for one of the bowl practices. I went down with my coach. I enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to talk with some of the players.

I have gotten to know some of the players committed to Clemson over the past year. I know Andre Ellington from Berkeley. I have talked with J.K. Jay a good bit. I have also talked some with Larry Raper and Marquan Jones.

Some schools want me just for defense. Most teams want me to play defense, but also special teams and maybe some slot. Clemson is looking at me to play defensive back and also some receiver.

I want to try to play offense, defense and special teams.

I will probably wait until next year to make my decision. I will probably wait until after the season. I want to look around first. I want to take my official visits.

I don't have any favorites right now. Top Stories
