Tigers Pick Up Another Commitment

CUTigers.com first reports on another verbal commitment in the 2008 recruiting class.

The Clemson coaching staff has picked up the verbal commitment of Saint Augustine, Fla. safety Rashard Hall, CUTigers.com has learned.

"It actually started yesterday. I called coach Swinney and missed him. He called me back. I told him I was ready. He asked me if I was sure. He wanted me to make sure. I called him back this morning and told him I was sure. Then I talked with coach Bowden and coach Vic," said Hall.

Why did Hall decide he wanted to be a Tiger?

"There were several reasons. I definitely liked the people. The coaches were great and the fans are great at Clemson. I have the possibility to get some early playing time. I also liked the academics at Clemson. I will have the opportunity to get a degree from a top 20 university. The distance is also not bad," replied Hall.

The Florida standout had official visits planned for Clemson on January 11th and South Carolina on January 18th.

"I will probably just go to Clemson now. It is a big relief to know it is behind me. I knew for the past week or so it would be Clemson, but I just wanted to be sure. I know I am going to a great university," said Hall.

Hall, a three-star safety, chose the Tigers over offers from Maryland, South Carolina, West Virginia, Louisville and South Florida.

Hall visited Clemson unofficially earlier this year for the Virginia Tech game.

Hall's commitment gives the Tigers 18 verbal commitments for the class of 2008.

Scout.com currently ranks Clemson's 2008 class 17th in the country.
