S Spencer Adams Profile
After a recruting battle with many of the top schools in the south, it appears the Clemson Tigers have landed four-star safety Spencer Adams.
In a late-breaking announcement Thursday evening during the skills competition leading up to the Under Armour All-Star game this weekend in Florida, Adams revealed he would be a Tiger.
He chose Clemson over many of the top programs in the south, but his final two schools were the Tigers and North Carolina.
Adams gives the Tigers 20 verbal commitments in the 2008 recruiting class.
Clemson is expected to sign between 24 and 26 prospects in the 2008 class.
With Adams' signature on National Signing Day, Clemson will have signed the top defensive back in North Carolina in each of the last two years.
Last year the Tigers signed Highpoint native Marcus Gilchrist, a four-star cornerback.
Adams figures to compete for immediate playing at safety. He is currently listed as the No. 16 safety prospect in the country according to Scout.com.
