4-star offensive lineman R.J. Mattes got an in-home visit Tuesday night from Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden.

"It was good visit," he told afterwards. "They came in around 6:30. They were joking about the fact that they didn't know what to talk about since I have been to Clemson so much."

Coach Bowden did have a message for the 4-star lineman.

"The message was Clemson is on the verge of doing something special. They need a couple of pieces to get there and they think I am one of the pieces they need," said Mattes.

The Mattes' household will be full of coaches for the next few days.

"Virginia and State are coming by tomorrow. Carolina is coming on Thursday," said the top lineman. "Then I am taking my last visit this weekend to South Carolina," he said.

A decision should come in the next week to ten days.

"I will have my decision next week for sure," said Mattes. "I'm looking forward to that honestly. It will be a big relief. It will take a lot of stress of me." Top Stories
