Last weekend Cheraw wide receiver Jaron Brown took an official visit to South Carolina.

"It went good. I really got a chance to find out what coach Spurrier junior is all about. I got a chance to meet a lot of the other freshmen receivers. I got a chance to bond with my old teammate Cliff [Matthews]," said Brown.

Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden is expected to have an in-home visit with Cheraw wide receiver Jaron Brown on Thursday.

"Coach Swinney and coach Bowden are scheduled to come in tomorrow. I haven't heard from them this week, but they said they are coming by tomorrow," Brown told

When asked about his current leader, Brown responded, "South Carolina is my slight leader. I say slight because it is still close. I had a great time at Clemson also."

This weekend the Palmetto standout will take his final official visit.

"I am going to Michigan this weekend. I haven't been to Michigan before so I don't know what to expect. I am excited about getting up there to see what they have to offer," said Brown.

What would it take for Clemson or Michigan to overtake South Carolina?

"I'm not really sure. Clemson is a great place also. They were all even at one point. I am just going to look at the pros and cons," replied Brown.

The Cheraw two-way standout is not concerned about the number of receivers at South Carolina.

"They said the receiver position is wide open. They said I could come in and mix it up early. They said they were definitely going to move some of the other receivers over to play defense. I am ready to compete. I don't mind competition," said Brown.

A verbal commitment could come as early as next week.

"I am probably going to make an announcement next week. If not next week it will be the following week," said Brown. Top Stories
