It's that time of year.
Recruiting information is scarce and reliable recruiting information is even more hard to come by.
Simply put, most of the nation's top recruits, at least those who remain uncommitted, aren't talking. There's too much at stake as they secretly keep their collegiate destination to themselves.
And that includes many of Clemson's top targets.
With National Signing Day less than 24 hours away, the Clemson coaching staff is waiting to hear from three highly ranked prospects.
Here's a closer look at each one:
RB Jamie Harper ()
FINAL SCHOOLS: Clemson, Miami, Illinois
Harper, who has publicly denied a leader throughout the recruiting process appears to be down to three schools, with Clemson the favorite.
The good news is Harper's main recruiter to Clemson, assistant coach Dabo Swinney, has been through this song and dance before. Two years ago he signed one of the top backs in the country out of the state of Florida in C.J. Spiller. That experience is certainly valuable in trying to pull a repeat performance in 2008.
The bad news is Harper hasn't talked with anyone since his final official visit to Miami this past weekend. While it's been rumored he had a good time, could the Hurricanes have made one final push?
And what about Illinois? Clemson fans remember what current Illini and former Florida head coach Ron Zook did four years ago with Mike McIntosh. Could he somehow pull the same stunt with Harper?
Harper's head coach told CUTigers.com Saturday afternoon he was expecting an ESPN-U crew by his school around 12:20 on National Signing Day for an announcement.
OL Antoine McClain ()
FINAL SCHOOLS: Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee
This four-star offensive tackle visited Clemson officially in early January and came away impressed. His mother and his head coach visited campus this past weekend to look more closely at Clemson's academic situation and both came away impressed.
Clemson is believed to be the leader here, although, like Harper, McClain has not gone public with any sort of definite leader.
At this time, McClain is expected to announce at 11:30 Wednesday morning.
LB Jerrell Harris ()
FINAL SCHOOLS: Alabama, Clemson, Southern California
After taking his final trip to Tennessee this weekend, Harris is set to make an announcement Wednesday at 3:00 Eastern at his school. CUTigers.com confirmed with the four-star linebacker Monday evening that he has yet to make a final decision.
Having made official visits to his three favorites, Alabama could be the favorite but Clemson is also squarely in the mix.
As a sidenote, McClain and Harris, who are good friends, are expected to be each other's press conferences. That may or may not indicate the two players will attend the same school. Clemson is currently the only school in both of their top three.
Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden is expected to have National Signing Day press conference at 3:30 PM.
