Tigers Lead for 2010 LB

The Clemson coaching staff received a verbal commitment from one of the top sophomore receivers in the nation last weekend in Martavis Bryant. Now it appears the Tigers also have the lead for one of the top linebacker prospects as well.

LB Prince Shembo Profile

A number of schools are showing early interest for 6-2, 220 pound linebacker prospect Prince Shembo (Charlotte).

"I have gotten questionnaires from several schools. Florida, Tennessee, [N.C.] State, Wake Forest and Clemson have all sent me questionnaires," said Shembo.

The super sophomore camped at Clemson last summer and he knows of one camp destination for this summer.

"I am going back to Clemson. I know that. I will decide on some others later. I may go to Wake Forest."

When asked about his current leader, Prince responded, "Clemson is my leader. They are close to home. They are a defensive school. I really like the campus and the environment at Clemson."

The two-sport standout has been playing well on the basketball court in recent months as he's helped lead Ardrey Kell to the playoffs in just their second year.

"I wasn't much of a scorer this year. I was used more for defense and blocking shots. I always guard the other team's best player and get lots of rebounds," Shembo said. "But it's been fun.

"We start the playoffs this week. We head to Winston Salem on Tuesday to play R.J. Reynolds."

The powerful defender, who loves the weight room, recently hit a milestone.

"I just squatted 500. I am still benching 285. I haven't been lifting much because of basketball. Once basketball is over I will hit the weights," he said.
