4-Star CB/WR Heading to Clemson

A weekend visit to Clemson had to be cancelled last week, but one of the top players in South Carolina plans to make sure it happens this coming weekend. CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

CB Stephon Gilmore Profile

6-1, 180 pound cornerback prospect Stephon Gilmore, one of the state of South Carolina's top prospects for the class of 2009, plans to be in Clemson next week to take in spring practice.

"I am going up sometime during the week next week," he told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "We have spring break next week. I am going up with my mom and dad."

The South Pointe standout spoke with Clemson tight ends coach/Recruiting coordinator Napier earlier this week.

"Yeah I just talked to him yesterday," he said. "I was supposed to go to Clemson this past weekend, but I couldn't make it. He told me to come up next week during spring break so it looks like that's what I'm going to do."

After an impressive junior football campaign the talented athlete took his skills to the basketball court and track.

"I was All-state in basketball. Now I am running track. I run the 100, 200, 4 X 100 relay and the 4 X 400 relay," said Gilmore.

When asked if he is getting close to pulling the trigger on a commitment, Gilmore responded, "No, I am probably going to wait until during the football season."

One of Clemson's best recruiters has been keeping in touch with the two-way standout.

"J.K. Jay texts me every other day. I haven't met him yet, but we text a lot. He seems like a cool guy," said Gilmore.

A few weeks ago the Palmetto standout got some good news.

"I got an invitation to play in the Under Armour All American game. I told them I would play," said Gilmore. So that should be fun.

"With new offers, I am up to fifteen now. Colorado was the last school that offered me," he added.
