DE William Ming Profile

"Recruiting is going really good right now," said William Ming. "I am up to about 16 offers. "My most recent offer came from Clemson. They offered me this past week. I also recently received offers from Notre Dame, Georgia and Florida State.

"I went to Alabama yesterday for the A-Day game. The week before I went to LSU, and the week before that I went up to Notre Dame. I don't have anything else scheduled at this time."

Ming talked about his most recent visit to Tuscaloosa.

"The visit to Alabama went really good," he said. "Of course it was a good crowd for the A-Day game. I met up with coach [Curt] Cignetti and talked to coach [Nick] Saban for a bit. Coach Saban talked to me about how thin they were on the depth chart. They need some more players to come in.

"I thought the game went really good. I particularly watched Alfred McCullough. He is from Athens. He had a real good game. I was glad to see him do well. I think coach Saban has the program turned back around and heading in the right direction.

"The visit to LSU also went really good. As soon as I got there I walked in the practice facility. I met with coach [Les] Miles. He seemed like a cool guy. We talked about life-type stuff."

"I was down there for their spring scrimmage. It was pretty good. It was like watching a normal scrimmage. I thought it was real nice. LSU has a good atmosphere, and their fans are crazy.

"I went up to Notre Dame for their Junior Day. There were only 10 other recruits there. That made it real special. I was the only one from the Southeast. I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches especially coach [Bernie] Parmalee. He said he thought I was good great football player and student. They really stressed academics.

"Notre Dame is recruiting me more as a tight end than the defensive side of the ball. I don't have a preference where I play. Notre Dame is a school with a ton of tradition. You always grow up knowing about Notre Dame and watching the movie Rudy. It was something I really wanted to see."

Offers will likely continue to arrive for Ming during the spring and summer months. A lot of choices and time to carefully make a decision.

"I don't have any favorites, and I don't have a time-frame for a decision," he said. "I know I will take some visits during the summer, but I am not sure where."

Last year Ming had 67 tackles with 17 for a loss along with five sacks and a fumble recovery. He was named to the Decatur Daily All-Area Defense First Team 4A-6A defensive line.
