SC RB Takes in Orange & White Game

One of the next great running backs in line for the Clemson Tigers visited Tigertown on Saturday to watch the spring game.

Sumter running back and Clemson verbal commitment Roderick McDowell took in the annual Orange & White scrimmage on Saturday.

"I had a wonderful time," he told after his trip. "I got a chance to see my team do their thing. I got to see how talented they are. They are probably going to win the ACC Championship next season."

What was the highlight of the trip to Death Valley?

"I would say it was when Kelly caught that pass on the trick play. Nobody saw that coming," replied McDowell.

4-star offensive lineman J.K. Jay spent a lot of time with Roderick during the weekend.

"Yeah I hung out with J.K. He is like my brother. When we first met we fit together like family. We told each other when we get up to Clemson we will have a lot of fun together," said McDowell. "We are trying to work on Sam Montgomery. He might jump on board too."

Clemson running backs coach Andre Powell spent time talking with the future Tiger running back.

"I talked to coach Powell a good bit. He told me their game plan for the game. He told me to stay in the books and hit the weights. He told me my time will come," said McDowell. The speedster has taken his talents to the track this spring.

"I have been running track," he said. "My best 100 time is 10.6. My best 200 time was 21.8."

McDowell also made sure to point out the one player stood out to him at most during the sprin game.

"Oh that would be Bowers," he said. "He stood out a lot. He fit in like he had been there for a couple of years already." Top Stories
