COMBINE: SC OL has a Big Day

CHARLOTTE - As you've probably heard by now, Dorman offensive lineman Brandon Thomas was the big winner in Saturday's Scout.com/Under-Armour Combine. Now hear what he has to say about recruiting.

OL Brandon Thomas Profile

Thomas, who turned in an incredible 4.69 time in the 40-yard dash, was one of the biggest surprises of the entire combine, especially considering he checked in at 6-feet-4 inches tall and 279 pounds.

The future offensive tackle prospect is athletic enough to play tight end, and he told CUTigers.com Saturday he'll actually be doing some of that during his senior year with the Cavaliers.

Once thought of as one as a top 20 prospect in South Carolina and likely bound for a three-star desigination by Scout.com, Thomas made a big case to be moved to four-stars as one of the top two linemen in the state with his performance Saturday.

And naturally, many schools have already moved in with a scholarship offer- including Clemson.

CUTigers.com caught up with the big guy Saturday to get his thoughts on a number of topics, including recruiting and much more.

A transcript of the interview is posted below, or you can watch it on video by clicking the link to the right. A video of Thomas running 4.69 in the 40 has also been provided.

1-ON-1 INTERVIEW:
40-YARD DASH:
What do you want to get out of the combine today?
Thomas: Today I just want to have fun. I want to show the coaches what I can do out here.

Do you have any visits planned in the next month or so?
Thomas: Not right now, but I am going to call Clemson and get in touch with them so I can get down there.

How close are you to making a decision?
Thomas: I was planning to make a decision a couple of games into the season. It is not going to be real soon.

Do you have a leader right now?
Thomas: Right now it is Clemson.

What do you like about Clemson?
Thomas: I just like the location since I am in Spartanburg I am only like an hour drive away. The other schools like South Carolina is like an hour and a half away. North Carolina is like three hours away. So it is location and academics are important.

What position do you think you will play if you go to Clemson?
Thomas: Well they were talking about playing me at guard, but they also said I could play tackle. Whatever they put me at, I'll play it.

Have you gotten to know some of the other prospects that are already committed to Clemson?
Thomas: Yes sir. J.K. Jay. I have his cell number. We plan on going out to eat.
