RB Jamie Harper Profile

Future Clemson running back Jamie Harper is counting the days until he leaves Jacksonville, Fla. for Tigertown.

"I am heading up in 18 days," Harper told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "I am counting the days. I can't wait to get up there. I had my graduation last Thursday so I am all done."

One of his former teammates will be rooming with him at Clemson this summer.

"Yeah I will be rooming with Matt Skinner and Daniel Andrews," said Harper.

What number will Jamie wear when he runs down the hill next fall?

"I'm not sure what number I will be wearing. It doesn't matter. I just want to get a chance to play," said Harper.

Harper's new workout plan, provided by the Clemson coaching staff for all incoming freshmen after they sign their letters of intent, is nothing new for the star athlete.

"I had the privilege of having a real good strength coach at school," he said. "We do pretty much the same things, except the Clemson workouts go much quicker. It is quicker; the times are a little shorter. It is just a faster pace. It is kind of like growing up, things get a little quicker."

"I'm not sure what number I will be wearing. It doesn't matter. I just want to get a chance to play," said Harper.
Clemson asssistant coach Dabo Swinney, Harper's main recruiter to Tigertown, has kept in touch with Scout.com's No. 5 running back in the country since National Signing Day.

"He is always calling to make sure everything is on the right track. He checks on my weight, my body fat and how I am doing in school. We keep a real close relationship. He keeps it real cool and down to earth," said Harper.

Harper has also been focused on getting down to his prime playing weight over the next month or two.

"I am trying to lose some weight," he said. "I am about 233 right now. I am trying to get down to about 225."

What is the five-star standout looking forward to the most about enrolling at Clemson?

"I am just looking forward to the home feeling atmosphere I got every time I went to Clemson. Everybody is so down to earth. I just want to be around everyone," replied Harper.

"At first I was a little nervous about leaving. But after visiting up there it is like a home away from home. I am excited to get up there."

Several ofuture Tigers from the state of Florida have grown close over the past few months.

"We had a get together one weekend. Matt [Skinner], Daniel [Andrews], Carlton [Lewis], Rashard [Hall] and I all got together. We all keep in touch. We are all set as a family right now. That should make it easier when we all get to Clemson," said Harper.

Is everything in good shape for the Florida standout to enroll in early July?

"I think so. I hope so. I think I got everything right," replied Harper.

As a senior, Harper rushed for 1,437 yards and 19 touchdowns at Trinity Christian Academy. For his efforts he was named to the Under Armour All-American Game.

He also recorded 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground and 300 yards and five touchdowns through the air as a junior.

Harper signed with Clemson over offers from many schools, including Florida, Florida State, Miami, Illinois.

He benches 350 pounds, squats 530 pounds and has a 38.5-inch vertical jump.
