Palmetto State Battle?

The Clemson Tigers already have a commitment from one of the top offensive linemen in South Carolina and appear to be in great shape with another four-star guard. Who leads for the other top lineman from the Palmetto state? CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

OL Quinton Washington

Timberland offensive lineman Quinton Washington, previously weighing in at 322 pounds, has been dropping some pounds with constant workouts this summer.

"I am working hard in the weight room and doing a lot of running. I am down to about 303 right now. The running helps a whole lot," he told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

The top lineman is not taking many visits this summer.

"I haven't been to any camps," he said. "I haven't been on any visits yet. I am planning to go to South Carolina on July 18. That is about it right now."

When asked about his current favorites, Washington responded, "I still don't have any. I haven't really taken my visits yet. I will probably take most of them this fall. Then I will have some favorites."

Which teams are recruiting the Timberland star lineman the hardest right now?

"I would probably say Clemson and South Carolina," replied Washington.

Do the in-state schools have an advantage?

"I really don't know right now. I need to take some visits first," said Washington.

Several schools will get visits later this year, including the Tigers.

"I am going to see Miami, Tennessee, Clemson and South Carolina in the fall. I would also like to go see Michigan," said Washington.

What will be important when Quinton selects his college destination?

"I am just looking for some place I feel comfortable. Education will be a big thing. I want to make sure I graduate," replied Washington.

Washington is currently ranked as the No. 25 offensive guard prospect in the nation by Scout.com.
