Gilmore Confirms Four Visits

Two former AAU basketball teammates will join forces this fall to try to help lead South Pointe to a state championship. Five-star safety Devonte Holloman and four-star corner Stephon Gilmore will be teammates thanks to Devonte's move to Rock Hill.

"I was with Devonte yesterday," Gilmore told CUTigers.com earlier this week. "We had a 7-on-7 tournament. We got beat in the championship.

"But it has been good to have him down here. It was a tough situation, but I think it has worked out good for him. We have been hanging out a lot more."

One of the benefits of having Holloman at South Pointe is it will allow Stephon to play more positions this fall.

"Yeah that is good. Things will be a lot better this year," Gilmore said. "I can show what I can do at different positions. I will still play a lot of quarterback, but I will also be able to play some receiver and return punts. We will be able to keep teams off balance as Devonte and I switch positions."

In terms of recruiting, Gilmore is also now ready to go on the record with four official visits.

"Right now I know I am going to take four official visits," he said. "I am going to Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. I am not sure of the dates yet."

Early enrollment is also still in his plans, so a decision will likely come this fall.

"I am going to make my decision before the season is over. I will take my official visits during the season since I am graduating early," said Gilmore.

The four-star standout also said he plans to attend a number of games this fall, including many trips to Clemson with Devonte.

"I will probably head down a lot with Devonte," he said. "I know we are going down for the first game against Alabama [in Atlanta].

South Pointe should be ready to compete for a state championship this fall.

"We should win the state this year. I think we have a lot of talent. We just need to have fun and stay focused," he added.
