Closing In On a Commitment?

One of the top cover corners in the southeast this year appears to be getting closer to making a decision.

Terry Shankle's summertime visit tour has ended as he starts preparing for his last year of high school football.

"Yes I am shutting down the visits. I am going to concentrate on the season," Shankle told in a recent interview. "It's time for the season.

"Practices are going good so far. We started last week. We started two-a-days on Wednesday. I'm ready. It has been hot out there."

South Stanly High School (N.C.) could compete for a championship this fall according to the top corner.

"We are going to be pretty good. I think we might take it all the way," said Shankle.

In terms of recruiting, the four-star corner has narrowed the field down to four schools.

"I am basically down to North Carolina, N.C. State, Clemson and Alabama. They are all even," said Shankle.

And while the decision timing is not clear, a commitment could come as soon as the next few weeks.

"I really don't know when I will pull the trigger. It depends on how I feel. It could be before the season," said Shankle.

How does the North Carolina standout plan to pick his college destination?

"I am going to sit down with my mom. We will discuss all of the schools. Then we will select the one that fits me best. That is how I am going to do it," replied Shankle.

As a junior, Shankle caught 49 receptions for 957 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had 15 interceptions with four going for touchdowns and returned three punts for touchdowns. Top Stories
