Gilchrist: As a secondary we performed very well. I went out there and played a significant part of the success that we had out there. We have been rotating a lot and I have been playing multiple positions. I am just out there working hard to make sure I know all of my assignments.
What positions are you playing and are you playing in the nickel package?
Gilchrist: Right now I am playing the field corner. I am starting to play nickel right now so I am trying to pickup on the nickel and still doing a little return.
How much more comfortable are you this year?
Gilchrist: Now that I am a sophomore you know everything comes with time. I am more comfortable with package. I am more comfortable with coverages. I know where I need to be so I am able to do less thinking and more reacting.
What are your chances of taking a starting spot later this season?
Gilchrist: I am just working hard. God has a plan for me and whatever I do so I am going to just keep working hard and let things pan out the way they do.
Are they starting to use you on punt returns?
Gilchrist: Yes sir.
Any work on kickoff returns?
Gilchrist: I really haven't been doing any work on kickoff returns, but I will probably end up doing some.
How good can this defense be this year?
Gilchrist: I think this defense can be the No. 1 defense. If we come out and put in the work that we are suppose to do and expect it then the sky is the limit.
What is the main thing you need to improve on in the next two weeks to be ready for Alabama?
Gilchrist: Just mental preparation. I think we have all the tools physically. I just think that we have to prepare better and be more focus. We need to mentally go in with the mindset that we have to know our assignments and what to do.
