Among some of the big names on the field were four-star offensive lineman and Clemson verbal commitment Brandon Thomas, four-star defensive end Sam Montgomery and future potential five-star wide receiver Charon Peake.
CUTigers.com caught up with Thomas after the game to get his thoughts on recruiting, his senior season and much more in another edition of CUTigersTV. Click the video below to watch the interview. A transcript has also been provided as well.
Thomas: We went into the game with a good game plan. I think we just executed very well.
How was in going up against Sam Montgomery tonight?
Thomas: Yeah you know going up against a guy I am going to be playing with is pretty fun. To see what he got and to see what I got against him. That is pretty fun. I hope I get to go up against him again.
What did you learn playing against Sam?
Thomas: I learned that I can't stop my feet because once he gets under you he will take you to the ground. I stopped my feet a couple of times so I have to work on that.
Tell us about the big block you had on punt coverage.
Thomas: Well we have been working on that all week. We knew they were coming to block the punts. They got two tonight. We have been working on it and we just executed on that one very well.
Are you going up to Death Valley for the game Saturday?
Thomas: Yes sir. I am going to see N.C. State play Clemson. I will go with my nephew and brother-in-law. We will go up about 8:30 and take a tour first.
How firm are you with the Tigers right now?
Thomas: I'm very firm. I like the location and I just like the coaches there. I just love Clemson right now.
What are your thoughts on Clemson's play on the offensive line so far?
Thomas: I read the papers and then I talked to some of the coaches. They said the started three freshmen. I know they are going to be working on it a lot this week. They are going to the game prepared.
Does it make you feel good to see them playing so many young players?
Thomas: Somewhat. I hope I want go in there and start like that. I hope I have some time to work on my strength and footwork.
How have you adjusted to playing H-back this season?
Thomas: Well you know it is a lot of running. Playing tackle last year it was like ten yards and then on a long run go down the field. Playing tight end, fullback and sometimes wideout so they are moving me around a lot. They have me running a lot after practice trying to get me in shape because I am 6-4, 290. They are trying to get me in shape so I can move around the field. When I first when to fullback and tight end it was hard because I was out of shape being a tackle, but I think I am getting it down pat right now.
Have they thrown the ball to you yet this year?
Thomas: Well they tried twice, but one was low and the other was high. I think we'll get it later on in the year.
Are you going to take any more visits?
Thomas: I might go down to South Carolina, but right now I am pretty firm on Clemson.
