Jefferson, White Name Leaders

Scott Kennedy has updates on two big time prospects looking at the Tigers. Wide receiver Chris Jefferson, out of Morganton, North Carolina talks about his visit to Vanderbilt this past weekend and safety Larry White out of College Park, Georgia names his leader in this report.

Larry White was one of several unofficial visitors for the Georgia / Georgia Tech game, and the standout linebacker from Banneker in College Park liked what he saw.

"I had a pretty good time up there," said White. "It was an unofficial visit. Georgia's pretty close to home, so it's easy to get up there. I'm leaning pretty heavily to Georgia, but I want to visit Clemson before I make a decision."

White projects as a safety on the next level, but he has led Banneker in tackles for the past 3 years at linebacker. He finished this season with 130 tackles on the season.

Chris Jefferson is a tall wide receiver prospect from Morganton, NC that has scholarship offers from around the country. At 6-3 and 175 pounds with 4.5 speed, Jefferson helped lead his Freedom team to a 10-2 record by catching over 40 passes for nearly 700 yards. He has been on one official visit thus far, and it made quite an impression.

"Vanderbilt is the only official visit I have taken so far," said Jefferson. "I loved it. Brandon Smith was my player host there. I'm really leaning towards Vanderbilt a lot right now. I know it's the only visit I've taken so far, but it's more than that."

They have a lot of really young players that I can relate with real well. I liked the coaches and the city of Nashville. The education you can get there is the best too. They graduate 100% of their players. It's just going to be hard to find a place that offers more than Vanderbilt. I'm going to visit Duke this weekend, Boston College on 1-17, Clemson on 1-11, and Virginia on 1-25. When I go on visits now, I'm just going to compare them to Vanderbilt."

Jefferson has the frame and the quickness to be an early contributor on the next level. In a recruiting year loaded with receiver talent, Jefferson is one of the most highly sought after prospects in the region.
