One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the Sunshine State, Mario Henderson, spoke with CUTigers.com Monday evening about the latest developments in his recruitment.
Just one month ago, Henderson maintained the Tigers were the team to beat for his services, is that still true today? Brad Scott and offensive line coach Ron West continue to stay in constant contact.
How did you wrap up your senior season?
My senior season went well. We lost in the first round of the playoffs and finished 8-3.
What schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?
Henderson: It's probably between Clemson, Wisconsin, and N.C. State. I've always been talking to Wisconsin a lot and I have in-home visit set up with them on Tuesday.
Do you have offers from all of those schools?
Henderson: Yes, and Florida.
Which college football games have you been to so far this season?
Henderson: Just that Miami-Florida State game that I talked to you about before.
Is Clemson still your favorite right now?
Henderson: Yes sir they are. They've been my top school for a good while now.
Which Clemson coaches have been in contact with you the most at this point?
Henderson: I hear from Coach Scott all the time. I've also talked to Coach West a little too. I feel real comfortable talking to both of them.
Do you have any in home visits set up?
Henderson: Yeah, Wisconsin is coming tomorrow and Coach Scott has said he's going to come down too. We don't have a date set yet or anything though.
What's going to be the most important thing in deciding where you want to go to school?
Henderson: The academics and also how comfortable I feel there. The environment is going to be real important to me. Like I said before, I'm going to wait until signing day after I take all of visits to make a decision.
You've already set up an official visit to Clemson on January 10th, have you set anything else in stone yet?
Henderson: Not yet, but I'll probably visit Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, and N.C. State, but Clemson is the only school I have set everything up with so far.
Would your family like to see you stay instate?
Henderson: Yes sir, I think they really want me to stay in Florida, but I'm going to take all of my official visits before I decide and go where the enviroment fits me best.
In conclusion, we'd like to thank Mario for taking the time to speak with us. As it stands now, the Tigers still appear to be the team to beat headed into early December.
