CUTigers.com was on hand to watch Byrnes's 38-12 over Pahokee High (Fla.). Afterwards, we caught up with junior defense end Corey Miller to get the latest on his top schools in the recruiting process, as well as his performance in the big victory:
Miller: It feels great. We have had three other teams come in here and take L's too. A lot of pride on this field. 50 plus wins on it. It was a big win and we are just happy to get out with it.
Tell us about the defensive performance tonight.
Miller: It was a great performance overall. That is the best we have played all year. Everybody came to play and we played to win.
Have you played against anybody with that kind of speed this year?
Miller: I haven't seen anybody with the speed that Pahokee has. Looking forward to the rest of the team to see what every one else has.
Have you been to Death Valley this year?
Miller: I haven't made a trip down there yet. I am going to North Carolina tomorrow to watch them play Connecticut. I am trying to make it down there to Clemson.
Do you have any other visit planned?
Miller: The Tennessee Georgia game and the Clemson Florida State game.
Who are your leaders right now?
Miller: Leaders would be in no particular order North Carolina, Clemson and California.
How did California get in the picture?
Miller: I really wasn't hearing much from them at all till all of a sudden an offer just poped up. I called their coach and talked to the D line coach. He was real interested in me. We had a nice talk for about an hour.
Did you get a chance to see some of the Clemson guys that were there tonight?
Miller: Willy, Chad, Buster, C.J. Spiller. Those guys showed great example for everybody and hometown fans love them.
What would it feel like to make the state championship and play in Death Valley?
Miller: All I can do is smile on that one because that is what I want to do.
