"Definitely a Tiger"

The nation's No. 21 middle linebacker prospect is now less than two weeks away from making his first-ever trip to Death Valley.

LB Corico Hawkins Profile

6-0, 220 pound linebacker prospect Corico Hawkins has helped lead Baldwin High School (Ga.) to an undefeated start to the 2008 campaign.

And he's piled up some impressive stats along the way to boot.

"The season is going great right now," he told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. "We are only giving up about three points per game. We are 6-0. We have an off week this week.

"I have two touchdowns on offense so far this year. I play H-back. On defense I have 62 tackles and a couple of pass deflections."

What is the Clemson verbal commitment hearing from the Clemson staff these days?

"I talk to the coaches a good bit, especially coach Rumph. They can't wait for me to come see a game," replied Hawkins.

A trip to Death Valley is planned for next weekend.

"I am going to see the Georgia Tech game. That will be my first game to see them," said Hawkins. "I watched them play Alabama. I also watched them play Maryland and The Citadel."

What does Corico think of the Tigers' performance so far this year?

"I mean they have a lot of great guys at the skill positions. They are young on the line. The linebackers are young. They are a great team," replied Hawkins.

The Peach standout said he also feels like he can help the Tigers right away.

"I am looking forward to coming in and getting some early playing time," he said.

How firm is the Hawkins with the Tigers?

"I am very firm. I am definitely going to Clemson," replied Hawkins.

The future Tiger linebacker has been calling a few other Clemson verbal commits.

"I have talked to Devonte Holloman a couple of times. I have also tried to get in touch with Craig Loston a few times. I haven't been able to get him," said Hawkins.
