Korn: I was completely surprised when I found out I would be starting this week. I thought that there would be no way. That's kind of how things have gone since I've been here. Usually they stay with the senior, the other guy. They don't make a change. I was just completely surprised when I found out about it.
What's it like to be in control of the offense now?
Korn: It's an incredible feeling It's a weird feeling. It's been two years since I started a football game. But I've been preparing week in and week out since I've got here that I was going to be the starter. So, it's kind of different now that I know I'm going to play, I'm going to start where weeks before I was preparing to play but I didn't know if I was going to play or not. It's a good feeling... because all the hard work I've put in and now I get to show it this week.
So you get back after being away for a few days and you are walking out with Cullen ... you are a human being ... was it a bit uncomfortable out there?
Korn: It was a little bit at the beginning. But he's the team captain for a reason. He's the permanent team captain this year because he's one of our mature senior leaders. I know he's going to handle it with a lot of class. I've been behind him the whole time and I'm sure he's going to support me.
Have you guys talked about this at all?
Korn: We didn't discuss it. There's not a lot to talk about obviously. But like I said, he's going to handle it with a lot of class. I know he will.
Were you getting frustrated your number hadn't been called yet?
Korn: I've always been a team guy. Team guy first. I came to Clemson University because I trusted Coach Bowden and Coach Spence. I knew they were going to make the best decision. Up until now they thought the best decision was to play Cullen. I was behind that 100 percent. As far as getting frustrated ... everybody is frustrated. I wasn't frustrated from a personal standpoint. I was frustrated because we are 3-3 and we are losing football games. I want to win football games anyway I can.
Are you just going to be plugged in the same offense or will the offense change?
Korn: I'm going to do my best with whatever Coach Spence decides to call. We haven't put the game plan in. It's early. We usually start practice in Monday. We are really at the very beginning stages. I talked to him on the phone yesterday and I told him I had a 100 percent confidence and faith in you. You call whatever play you want and I can run this offense.
You sent a text to Steven Garcia yesterday. Kind of funny how this all worked out as both of you will make your first start on the same day.
Korn: Kind of weird how that worked out. It was really good to see him playing. He's a buddy of mine and I'm really happy to see him find some success. I got to talk to him a little bit. It's kind of weird how that happened. We were both good buddies coming into college and now we are both making our first starts. That's kind of cool.
