Brett Byford is now entering the home stretch of his recruitment, and things are finally begin to fall into place.

Byford is still set to go Lincoln, Nebraska for his trip to see the Cornhuskers on December 20th, and an additional trip to see the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta may also be in the works.

Byford had a strong senior campaign due to his improvement in the weight room. "I was stronger this year than I was last. Right now I'm 6'4, 280 pounds, I've got a 300 pound bench press and I run the 40-yard dash in 5.1 seconds," Byford added.

"I had coaches in this week from South Carolina and Clemson," said Byford. "The visits went great and it gives you a lot to think about. Coach Hines stopped by after Coach Watts left."

Incidentally, linebackers coach Jack Hines has taken over in the place of the departed Justin Watts, who left the Tigers to take a fulltime position with Rodney Allison at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.

For Byford, his decision will come down to a lot of soul searching, and above everything else, a lot of praying.

"I'm looking at the coaches and everything else, but the bottom line for me is that I'm just going to get on my knees and try to find God's will, that's the most important thing to me," Byford told CUTigers.com right before Thanksgiving.

We will keep you updated on Brett Byford, right up through signing day, but there's no doubt that Nebraska still holds the slight edge over Clemson, with South Carolina and Georgia Tech behind the Tigers.

Byford, a three-star prospect from Hartselle, Alabama, is a projected as a guard on the collegiate level.
