Scott, Blackwell Visit Jacksonville LB

Jacksonville has been very good to the Clemson Tigers the past few years and once again Clemson is mining the area for top recruits. Two Clemson coaches visited Jacksonville earlier this week to see one of the top linebackers in Florida. CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

LB Sam Barrington Profile

Clemson assistant coaches Jeff Scott and coach David Blackwell visited with three-star linebacker Sam Barrington earlier this week.

"They were just talking about Clemson and what they have to offer. They talked about the type of opportunity I would have if I came there. They informed me of a lot of things I didn't know about Clemson," Barrington told CUTigers.com after the visit.

"I didn't really know about their depth chart and how they need linebackers. I knew coach Swinney was the coach, but learned more about him. I just got some insights into the program."

Several other schools stopped by to visit the top linebacker this week.

"Coaches from Indiana, Purdue, Georgia Tech and South Florida all came by this week," said Barrington.

This weekend the Florida standout has an official visit planned. "I leave for South Florida tomorrow at 1. I will be going up by myself," said Barrington.

The Tigers will get the next official visit.

"I am also going to Clemson and Florida. I am going to Clemson on January 9," said Barrington.

When asked if he has a current leader, Barrington responded, "I don't have a leader right now."

What will be important when Sam selects his college destination?

"The single most important thing will be how comfortable I am with the school," replied Barrington.

The team that eventually signs the Terry Parker standout in February will get a player that loves the prime time.

"My coach always tells me how I elevate my game to the situation. If it is a really big game he says I play like never before. I rise to the occasion," he added.
