It's become a yearly tradition at CUTigers.com- the James Davis' bowl week diary. And once again this year, Clemson's main man in the backfield has agreed to take you behind the scenes one last time. Every day in Jacksonville, as the Tigers continue preparations for Nebraska, J.D. will chronicle his trip and what takes place both on and off the practice fields.
DAY ONE - It was hot out there today but we had a good practice overall. Guys were getting after it and we looked good for the first practice back after Christmas. The overall spirit was pretty good.
One of the best things about this bowl trip this year is just being home for Christmas. We got to go home and spend it with family before coming down here and that was real good. The timing of how they do things down here works out for the guys.
Secondly, Jacksonville reminds me a lot of Atlanta- you know the city.
There are a lot of places to go around here within walking distance. Last night we went to the Jacksonville Landing which is a really nice place. Me and C.J. were out there and there were a lot of guys out. Most of them were at Hooters and we stopped by there for a little bit.
There was a lot of mist last night so you could barely see. That was kind of different.
We also went Dave & Buster's last night. Me and Jock McKissic played against C.J. and Jacoby in football. We were the Cleveland Browns. They thought they had us but we played good defense and won.
We are going to the theme park later today, but it's after practice so I'm probably going to be sitting down and watching the guys. I'm kind of exhausted, but I'm sure it's going to be fun. I'll probably find some rides- some slow rides or maybe a water ride so I can cool off a little bit.
But it will be a lot of fun because we'll get to play some with the coaches' kids and that's always fun.
I'm not really thinking about the draft or anything like that right now. It's all about winning this game. That's first. The rushing record? That is second. But winning this game is the most important to get us going on the right track for next year and for Coach Swinney.
I like how it's going so far.
