Big Man Ready for Big Trip

Clemson verbal commitment Tyler Shatley will take his official visit to Tigertown this weekend where he will get to spend some time with someone very familiar with his future position.

"I am looking forward to the visit," he told earlier this week. "Chad Diehl will be my player host this weekend. It will be good to talk with him."

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney called to check in on the future Tiger this week.

"Coach Swinney just called to checkup on me. He said he was calling all of the guys that were committed. He told me he was excited about having everybody up this weekend. I am real glad he got the job," said Shatley.

As the East Burke (N.C.) standout prepared for his official visit, he spent plenty of time on the phone with the Clemson staff this week.

"I talked with the coaches almost every night this week. I talked with coach Napier, coach Swinney and coach Pearman," said Shatley.

What does Tyler hope to see during his official visit?

"Well I have been around campus before, but I haven't really gotten to look around at everything. I have seen Vickery Hall. I want to see everything while they have students there on campus," replied Shatley.

This weekend will be a Shrine Bowl reunion for Tyler.

"I have talked some with J.K. and Malliciah. I am looking forward to seeing some of the Shrine Bowl guys," said Shatley.

CUTigers spoke with the Shrine Bowl standout right before the BCS National Championship game, so we had to get his prediction.

"Florida will win because I don't think Oklahoma can stop their defense. I think they will win by two touchdowns," he added.

Shatley, who is the No. 6 ranked fullback in the nation according to, remains firm in his commitment to Clemson and will take no other visits in the recruiting process. Top Stories
