Dean Debating Florida State?

Clemson verbal commitment Jad Dean only saw the field once on Saturday, but he took full advantage of his limited time. Dean promptly pounded the 2nd half kickoff out of the endzone for an easy touchback for South Carolina. Dean talks about the latest on his verbal commitment and his impending trip to FSU in this report.

"It was an awesome experience, besides the outcome of the game. We got to go up and see the kids at the Shriner's Hospital and just to be around the players and everything was an awesome experience for us all," said Dean.

As far as recruiting goes, Dean insists that Clemson is where he'll be, but a trip to Florida State still might be on the horizon.

"I'm not sure about going down to Florida State just yet," said Dean. "I may cancel that trip. I've got it scheduled the week after I go to Clemson so we'll just have to wait and see what happens."

The Greenwood place-kicker finished the regular season by nailing 9-of-12 field goal attempts, with a long of 45-yards, and 31-of-32 PATs. While his accuracy is deadly, his leg strength is out this world for a high school kicker.

Dean appears to have become good friends with most of Clemson's current verbal commitments, including QB C.J. Gaddis. The two spent a good bit of time at midfield after the game talking.

The senior kicker also added that he had spoken with Greenville WR Noah Whiteside and that he felt like that Noah is now leaning towards Clemson. This was later confirmed which in an on the field interview with Whiteside himself.

CUTigers Notes:
During pregame warm-ups, Dean was kicking into a stiff breeze and still reaching the endzone with ease. It's no wonder why Tommy Bowden was quick to offer him; he has the leg strength kids that have been in college for 3 years.

The coaching staff has already indicated that they plan to utilize Jad Dean as their kickoff guy next year.
