Set for Signing Day

This four-star safety from Hargrave already has his signing day agenda set in stone, and he can't wait to sign with the Tigers.

Four-star safety Jonathan Meeks, a Clemson commitment since mid-December, says he is ready to go on National Signing Day this Wednesday, Feb. 4.

"I really am," he said. "I am going to go over to Rock Hill High to sign. My parents will be coming with me.

"I will be signing with Asa Watson and Terrance Bingham. We are going to sign at 8:45. I am not sure if it will be in the gym or the principal's office."

The star safety is working hard to be sure he is ready to compete when he arrives at Clemson later this year.

"I have been working with a trainer. He is our track coach," said Meeks. "I have been running and lifting. I have picked up about ten pounds. I am now about 205."

The former Rock Hill standout, who has been at Hargrave Military Academy for the last year, just needs to complete one course to be ready to qualify for Clemson.

"Yes I am still taking that class. It is going great. I still have an A in the class," said Meeks.

The four-star safety added can't wait to get to Tigertown.

"I can't wait to get to Clemson. I will be going down in May," said Meeks. "I'm looking forward to it."

Meeks figures to be one of several 2009 signees to factor in Clemson's two-deep depth chart this fall as the Tigers look to replace both Mike Hamlin and Chris Clemons in the defensive backfield. Top Stories
