Ready to be a Tiger

One of the nation's top fullbacks has known for quite some time which school he'll be signing with on National Signing Day, but that doesn't mean he's any less excited about doing it.

Wednesday morning Shrine Bowl standout Tyler Shatley, who is currently ranked as the No. 7 fullback in the nation, will sign his Letter of Intent with the Clemson Tigers.

"I will signing that morning at school," he told CUTigers Monday night. "My mom and dad will be there. We are just doing it in the office. We will take some pictures for the local paper.

"I am excited. It will be a big relief. I can finally put that behind me. I can be completely done with everything."

Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier visited with Tyler last week to wrap up his recruitment.

"Coach Napier came down last week," he said. "We had a good talk. We went over the Letter of Intent and how the process will work."

Shatley has also been working hard in preparation for his freshman season.

"Right now I am working out four days a week. I am mainly trying to stay in wrestling shape. I hope to win the state. My weight is still about the same," replied Shatley.

Not surprisingly, the East Burke (N.C.) standout was glad to hear about the commitment of five-star quarterback Tajh Boyd last Tuesday.

"I was excited to hear about Boyd. It was good that we got him. That will help out a lot," he added. Top Stories
