The Clemson coaching staff adds another signee to the 2009 class on Wednesday.

TE Darrell Smith Profile

The Clemson coaching staff picked up the verbal commitment today of three-star tight end Darrell Smith.

Smith faxed in his Letter of Intent shortly before four-star wide receiver Kendall Kelly and five-star cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick announced their respective decisions at Gadsden City High School Wednesday, before announcing his decision as well during a press conference.

Smith will be the 12th signee in Clemson's 2009 recruiting class and is expected to play as a defensive end at Clemson.

Scout.com currently ranks Smith as the No. 59 tight end prospect in the country.
