Next Up: Clemson?

One of the top defensive prospects in North Carolina is seeing the interest pickup dramatically over the past few weeks. Is a visit to Clemson his next stop?

Ardrey Kell (N.C.) linebakcer Prince Shembo has picked up a couple of new offers in the last few weeks.

"I have offers from Duke, Stanford, NC State and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech just offered last week," Shembo told Monday evening. "I am hearing a lot from Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama. I am also hearing a lot from Florida State."

Prince and his father visited Duke University a few weeks ago, followed by a short trip to Winston-Salem to check on the Demon Deacons.

"I went to Duke two weeks ago. It was a good visit. They have a good coaching staff," said Shembo. "I also liked Wake a lot. I talked mostly with coach Henry who is the defensive line coach. I talked to him almost the whole time. I got to meet coach Grobe. They want me to come back for spring practice.

"They are checking on my transcripts. I know they have been talking a lot with coach Woolbright."

Clemson will be the next stop on the visit tour.

"I am going to go to one of the Clemson Junior Days. I will probably go down on February 21," said Shembo.

When asked if he has any leaders, Shembo responded, "No, I am wide open right now.

"I am going to try to see some of the schools I haven't seen before. I want to go around and compare the campuses. I want to wait until later in the year to make a decision."

The Ardrey Kell standout has place mostly defensive end until last season where he played some linebacker. Which position are the schools recruiting him for right now?

"They are pretty much all looking at me for linebacker," said Shembo.

Prince, who loves to live in the weight room, will likely play above 230 at the next level.

"I am about 225 right now. I have been playing basketball so I have kept the weight down. I will be back over 230 once I hit the weights hard after the season," said Shembo. Top Stories
