"Real pleased. The defense was a little ahead of the offense throughout spring until today. The offense stepped up today and hit them in the mouth. Very very pleased with what I saw offensively, especially up front. I thought they controlled the line of scrimmage.
"I didn't like how the defense responded early, but then they responded. They came back and did some good things. It was kind of a back and forth day. From a head coaching perspective, I was really happy one time and not so at another. I thought we ran the ball extremely well. The quarterbacks continue to do a good job. Willy had some center/quarterback exchange issues but those guys are competing and making a lot of plays where they are throwing nice balls giving a chance to make a play.
"Marquan Jones made a great play (on a touchdown). Dwayne Allen had a nice play. Xavier Dye made a nice play on a conversion opportunity. But our primary emphasis today was running the ball and we ran it well. No. 8 is a different kid of animal. No. 23 is going to be an excellent player.
"And Rendrick Taylor? I don't know even how to explain him. He's 265 pounds. He's got the ball skills of a wide out. He's learning the physical side of it from the inside. We are playing him at three different positions but he showed he can be a force to be reckoned with."
