Jefferson Commits to Clemson!

WR Chris Jefferson, a highly touted player out of Morganton, North Carolina has verbally committed to the Clemson Tigers. Jefferson is the first wide receiver that has given his commitment to Clemson in the 2003 class.

Jefferson is in basketball practice through 8 o'clock this evening, but the commitment to Clemson has been confirmed through his high school coach.

"Clemson really impressed me and my mom on our visit this past weekend," Jefferson said yesterday in an interview with "I could definitely see myself playing there under Coach Stockstill."

"They said that I'll have to get in there and work hard and that I'd probably redshirt my first year, which is fine," added the senior wide out.

With Jefferson's commitment, the Tigers will likely take one more receiver in this year's recruiting class. Their #1 target is undoubtedly Noah Whiteside, who is one of the top receivers in the southeast this year out of Greenville High School.

Second on the list is Georgia wide receiver Brandon Allen. The coaching staff is waiting to see if Whiteside will commit to Clemson, and if he does, Allen won't be offered a scholarship.

If not, look for Brandon Allen to wear a Clemson uniform next season. "We are still waiting to hear from them," Allen's father said late yesterday evening.
