Nelson Commits to Clemson

Maurice Nelson is finally a Tigers! How good does it feel to finally say that with complete confidence? The Crestwood star had publically held off on a commitment until today, until he decided to announce the world that he would in fact play football for Clemson University.

Nelson had most recently visited Clemson and South Carolina on official visits.

"I'm still going to take the rest of my visits before announcing on signing day," said Nelson after returning from Columbia. "I'm keeping my options open, but Clemson still has the lead."

Clemson maintained the lead throughout the recruiting process, and it just seemed like only a matter of time before the brother of current Tiger linebacker Roosevelt Nelson pulled the trigger on a commitment.

"There's always the brother factor," said Nelson. "But Clemson just feels right to me, and they are recruiting me to play rover in their defense and that fits me really well.

He finished his senior season at Crestwood recording over 100 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception. Nelson chose the Tigers over Georgia, South Carolina, and Maryland. More on this breaking story throughout the day. Top Stories
