Clemson back on top for Peake

One of the nation's top wide receivers for the class of 2011 and a major Clemson target was in Tigertown on Saturday to see Clemson face off with No. 14 Texas Christian.

A day later, CUTigers caught up with Roebuck-Dorman HS wide receiver Charone Peake to see how his visit went.

"It was good seeing how things were with coach (Jeff) Scott," he said. "I have a good relationship with him."

Although he claimed Georgia as his favorite earlier this month, Peake said the Bulldogs are even with Florida.

"I'm going to say Clemson leads and Georgia and Florida are right there together," he said.

"I have good relationships with the coaches at those schools."

Scout.com lists Peake, who is 6-3 170, with four stars. He has been to all three schools for games this year and doesn't have plans for any other trips this fall.

He's been to Clemson more than either of the two SEC programs. The Tigers have been on him since he was a freshman and it could help their case to land his signature on Signing Day in 2011.

"They started recruiting me when I was in the ninth grade. I've been going there since I was (since)," Peake said.

Some of his other offers include: LSU, North Carolina, California, South Carolina, Maryland and Kentucky.

"I'm going to be looking at the coaches, taking care of the academics and if it's a good place to be, like how the surroundings are around the school," Peake said.

He plans to commit sometime during his senior year.

Apart of a 5-0 Dorman team, Peake said he has about 20 catches, 400 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
