The Cleveland Browns signed RB Chris Jennings to their 53-man roster from the practice squad Saturday and placed former Clemson running back James Davis (shoulder) on injured reserve, meaning his rookie season is done.
Davis was one of Cleveland's sixth-round picks in this year's draft and had an outstanding preseason.
Some league sources believed he would have wound up challenging starting RB Jamal Lewis for serious playing time later in the season had he not gotten hurt.
Davis left Clemson as the school's second all-time leading rusher.
