Jefferson Just Waiting on Signing Day

Chris Jefferson, the Tigers' lone wide receiver prospect in the 2003 class thusfar, is enjoying a successful year on the basketball court for Freedom High School leading his team to a #4 ranking and an 18-0 record. Jefferson talks about his commitment to Clemson and his recent visits with Coach O'Cain in this report.

For Morganton, North Carolina wide receiver Chris Jefferson, the recruiting mayhem has pretty much come to a close.

"Yeah, since I made my commitment to Clemson, all the phone calls have pretty much stopped, so that's been nice. Right now, I'm just focused on playing basketball. I'm averaging 11 points a game and we are 18-0 right now, and ranked 4th in the state," said Jefferson.

Jefferson was recruited by the hardest by Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and Boston College, until deciding on the Tigers soon after his official visit on January 10th.

Since then, assistant coach Mike O'Cain has been in steady contact with Jefferson and his family.

"I've been talking to Coach O'Cain a whole bunch, he's great. He has basically just been explaining to my family everything to expect. He's been up here a couple of times by my school too," added Jefferson.

Jefferson, who is another athlete in a long line of tall wide receivers at Clemson, helped lead his team to a 10-2 record by catching over 40 passes for nearly 700 yards this past season.

"I'm glad it's all over with, now I'm just looking forward to getting down to Clemson this year," said the future Tiger.
