Rice Back from Columbia

Curtis Rice, an outstanding linebacker prospect out of Union High School, made the trip down to Columbia this weekend for his official visit. Did he receive a formal scholarship offer from the Gamecocks?

Curtis Rice is an excellent linebacker at Union High School in Union, SC. He took an official visit to South Carolina this weekend, but did not get an offer that he was hoping for.

"I thought they might offer me when I went up there," said Rice. "I had a good time on my visit though. I've gotten offers from Newberry, UT-Chattanooga, and Western Carolina. I think I'll probably end up at UTC or Western Carolina right now."

Rice, who hosted by Gamecock reserve quarterback Rod Wilson this weekend, is being recruited to Clemson by Clemson recruiting coordinator Rick Stockstill.

Rice runs a legitimate 4.51 40-yard dash and has a 33-inch vertical jump. He also led the way for Union's defense with four tackles, two sacks for 18 yards, and two forced fumbles in the 61-28 destruction of Camden for the state title. He also had a touchdown run while doubling as a fullback for the Union offense.
