Major LB target enjoys Death Valley

As expected, Clemson's 40-24 win over Florida State on Saturday night made a big impression on several big-time recruits watching from the stands. This one just happens to be rated four-stars and is also is the teammate of a current Clemson verbal commitment.

Wadesboro-Anson HS (NC) outside linebacker Stephone Anthony told CUTigers Sunday night that he really enjoyed the atmosphere in Death Valley.

"It was alive. The fans are really in to it," he said.

Though he's not ready to join Anson teammate Brandon Ellerbe--a 2011 Clemson commit--in committing to sign with the Tigers in 2011, Anthony said the experience improved those chances.

"I wouldn't take it to a commit range, but it helped out a whole lot last night," he said. "I haven't seen a crowd like last night, ever."

The trip to Tigertown on Saturday was the first game day visit he's taken this fall. Anthony said he could hit Columbia this weekend for the South Carolina/Florida game.

He currently holds offers from Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, LSU and Maryland. He has not put together a list of favorites yet.

When deciding on which school's offer he'll accept, Anthony said it would come down to the system and a suitable atmosphere.

"If I can fit into their system, whether it's a 4-3 or a 3-4 system…if I had to pick today, it'd be the 3-4," he said. "You get to rush the passer a little bit more." rates Anthony with four stars currently and is a member of the Scout100 for the class of 2011. Top Stories
