Tigers involved with four-star OT

Looking for additional help on the offensive line in the 2010 recruiting class, the Clemson coaching staff has gotten heavily involved with this four-star offensive tackle from Hargrave Military Academy.

OT Laurence Gibson Profile

Hargrave offensive tackle Laurence Gibson sports 13 offers after not receiving any while he was at Buena HS in Sierra Vista, A.Z.

He recently told CUTigers that list includes Clemson, Alabama, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Kent State, UTEP, Western Carolina, Alabama State, Marshall, Memphis and Utah. None hold favor over any of the others.

Gibson has scheduled a trip to Clemson for December 11 with teammate Josh Watson. They've also both planned to visit Boston College this coming weekend. Gibson hopes Hargrave's final game of the season versus Fork Union this week will bring about more offers.

Though he's scheduled just two visits, he could set up more before January, when he'll enroll.

"I'm going to write down all the pluses and minuses of the things that stand out and I notice," Watson said. "After I'm done visiting, I'm going to weigh the good and the bad from all schools and see what I like."

Fully qualified out of high school, Gibson is thankful for "the chance" his mom took on him, allowing him to attend Hargrave.

"Getting those offers was amazing. It was a big relief because it wasn't guaranteed coming here," he said.

Gibson's main recruiter at Clemson is offensive tackle and tight ends coach Danny Pearman.

"He told me there's an opportunity to play early if I work hard," Gibson said. "We also went over the living arrangements and schedules."
